Don’t have space or time to maintain a garden? Then a Terrarium is just what you need. These attractive mini-gardens are an entire ecosystem and fit conveniently in a glass container. Terrariums can survive on ambient light and with the least amount of maintenance, with zero water-leakage. A terrarium garden can be small enough to fit on your desk at home, or a bigger more ambitious project. And what makes them truly special is the scope of creativity they offer; like a landscape designer you can choose the theme of your Terrarium Garden and add cute decorative elements to create a complete visual.
But building your first Terrarium can be tricky, which is for the Terrarium Making Workshop at Home the Instructor will come over with the entire kit and teach you how to create your very own glass garden in an 8” bowl and be provided with enough material to make 1 – 2 more terrariums in small jars.
You will learn how plants end up creating their own little ecosystem inside your glass containers. The fun hands-on workshop covers:
• Brief History & Evolution of Terrariums
• Material Specifications
• Types of Plants suitable
• Steps of Assembly
• Hands-on Practicals
• Watering and Aftercare
The Workshop can be attended by up to 5 participants at no extra cost, so feel free to invite your friends and family. Kits for the additional participants, if required, will be charged.
2 Hours workshop at home
1 Terrarium Kit:
8-inch traditional glass bowl – as it helps one learn better with the mouth of the container being wide
Soil Mix- compost, coco peat and red soil
3 variety of good quality terrarium plants- usually indoor plants
1 pc of accessory like a Miniature house, animal, bench etc.
Up to 5 people can join you for this session, additional kits will cost Rs.500/- per kit.
To make Terrariums with the additional material, you will need to have a glass jar, the size of a jam bottle, ready. Please note the sticker should be removed and the bottle has to be washed and dried. The jar has to be transparent else there is no way one could enjoy the plant arrangement. Since terrariums can be closed(sealed) or open, it is ok if you have a lid to your bottle or don’t have.
We recommend avoiding narrow mouth jars as beginners may find it tough to pass the plant through the mouth of the jar.
We do not provide printed notes, only e-notes are provided.
Some old newspapers, napkin to wipe your hands while gardening will be handy. Also, a pen and paper if you like taking down your own notes.

Here’s when you begin designing your mini Garden. Right from building in levels to adding the right accessory, the options are limitless. The Instructor will share a few ideas and guide you from there.
