Explore Mumbai’s iconic Fort neighbourhood on a walking tour that spotlights its hidden histories – the stories that lie behind, around and within the buildings, streets and spaces so familiar today.
The route takes you through the area’s earliest history as a struggling fortified town that would grow into a crowded, cosmopolitan, trading centre, to its place at the heart of 19th century developments that transformed Bombay into India’s ‘first city’, and, finally, to the area’s unique post-independence challenges and changes in identity.
2.5 hours guided tour
With the exception of St. Thomas’ Church this tour will not include any interior building visits.

The minimum age for children is 8 years, you can get your child along with you (and pay the necessary museum entry fees), however you will have to ensure that the child does not disturb the other participants.
If the walk has already started it will be difficult to know which location the group has reached and the guide will not be in a position to take your call, so it is best to reach the location 10-15 mins early.
